Media Statement FREE STATE – A multi-disciplinary team approach comprising of the Hawks Serious Organized Crime Investigation in Bloemfontein, Bloemfontein Crime Intelligence and Evaton SAPS Detectives members led to the arrest of Letsika Cosby Mmola (34) who is an accused in a robbery case. He was arrested in Sharpeville on 6 March 2025 and transferred to Bloemfontein, where he appeared before the Magistrates’ Court on 7 March 2025 on charges of robbery with aggravated circumstances, illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of ammunitions. It is alleged that on 22 November 2022, Mmola and a group of other accused persons robbed a cash delivery van of an undisclosed amount of cash in Botshabelo. Mmola was arrested then later released on R5000 bail. The Free State Division of the High Court of South Africa in Bloemfontein authorised a warrant of arrest for Mmola after he failed to appear in court on 3 February 2025. The case against Mmola was postponed for trial that will commence on 12 until 30 May 2025 at the Free State Division of the High Court of South Africa in Bloemfontein. Mmola’s bail was revoked and is currently in custody. The Provincial Head of the Free State Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Mokgadi Bokaba commends the joint effort made by the tracing team for arresting the cash-in-transit robbery perpetrator.
