Siyabonga Ngezana has reportedly been left disappointed after missing out on selection for Bafana Bafana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The revelation was made by FCSB interim coach Lucian Filip, who confirmed that the defender had not been called up for the global tournament.
“No. Siyabonga Ngezana was not called up to the World Cup,” Filip told Antena AS.
“He is disappointed, but that’s life, football doesn’t end here.”
Filip also highlighted the important role FCSB played in helping Ngezana gain recognition at the international level following his move from Kaizer Chiefs.
“He has to respect his club, because of the club he was in the national team’s attention,” added Filip.
Ngezana has enjoyed a strong spell in Romania since leaving Chiefs, becoming a key figure in the FCSB defence and earning praise for his consistent performances in Europe.
He had become a regular at Bafana before he was injured. But he returned for the AFCON in Morocco in December,
Coach Hugo Broos has not yet announced his final squad – he is expected to name his team for the World Cup on May 27 in Pretoria.
