Relebohile Mofokeng closes in on Belgian move

Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng is reportedly on the verge of sealing a dream move to the Belgian Pro League, with Union Saint-Gilloise reportedly closing in on an agreement to sign the talented attacker.
The 21-year-old enhanced his growing reputation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Although he did not start Bafana Bafana’s opening two group matches, he made a huge impact off the bench against Czechia before delivering another impressive performance in South Africa’s 1-0 victory over South Korea.
According to Belgian publication Nieuwsblad, Union Saint-Gilloise are close to reaching a club-to-club agreement with Orlando Pirates for Mofokeng’s transfer.
The Belgian champions have reportedly offered the attacking midfielder a four-year contract, and he is expected to travel directly from the United States to Belgium to finalise the deal once all paperwork is completed.
Union Saint-Gilloise have monitored Mofokeng for some time and are now pushing to complete the signing ahead of interest from other European clubs.
Mofokeng enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, making 27 Betway Premiership appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists as Pirates ended their 14-year wait for the league title.
Overall, he has played 125 matches for the Buccaneers, scoring 29 goals and registering 31 assists.
The Belgian club also has strong South African links. Former Mamelodi Sundowns academy head Shawn Bishop serves as Head of Methodology, while former Orlando Pirates assistant coach Chris O’Loughlin is the club’s Sporting Director.
