Six people have been killed in a brutal drive-by shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, late on Saturday night. The victims include several mothers who reportedly ran outside to protect their children when the gunfire erupted, only to be caught in the deadly crossfire.

Police say the attack appears to have been gang-related, with one of the victims believed to have ties to local gangs. No arrests have been made so far, and a heavy police presence remains in the area as investigations continue.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is expected to visit Reiger Park to assess the situation and meet with local authorities and residents.

Community members say they are living in fear as gun violence continues to plague the neighbourhood. Ward councillor Edith Klassen expressed deep frustration over what she described as ongoing neglect and inadequate policing.

“There’s no guarantee that it’s going to stop,” Klassen said. “Last year, a family lost their three sons in a shooting, and to this day, they’ve received no updates from the police. People here feel forgotten.”
Residents are calling for urgent intervention and stronger police action to curb the escalating violence that has left families grieving and communities terrified.
