Media Statement CAPE TOWN – Efforts to rid our communities of the illegal possession of firearms which is regarded as one of the root causes of serious and violent crime, proved successful when Ravensmead police members arrested a 19-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Wednesday, 24 April 2024 at 00:30. Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit members were busy with a stop and search operation at the corner of Uitsig and Erica Avenue in Uitsig, when they searched a suspicious looking male and found him to be in possession of a firearm with seven rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and will appear at Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 26 April 2024. Ends
