Media Statement THABA NCHU – A 44-year-old male was sentenced before Thaba Nchu Regional Court for raping a 31-year-old victim. During September of 2023, a 44-year-old accused, named Thembi Ntobi, had visitors at his place in Zone 2 in Selosesha near Thaba Nchu. They were drinking liquor and when they were done friends left and the 31-year-old victim was left behind as she was fast asleep. The accused raped the victim and the victim woke up while she was being raped. He ran away leaving the victim behind. He was traced few days after in Botshabelo after boarding a taxi as he was trying to evade arrest. Accused was denied bail and he was sentenced to ten years’ direct imprisonment for rape. Case was investigated by Detective Constable John Phara of Selosesha Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. Ends
