Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the 20 years’ imprisonment sentence handed down by the Modimolle Regional Court to a 67-year-old male accused, for a raping 13-year-old girl, on Thursday, 14 November 2024. The accused’s sentencing emanates after he raped a 13-year-old, at Phagameng location in Modimolle policing area, on 04 March 2023. The victim’s aunt sent her to her uncle’s residence in the same area. Upon entering the house, the uncle took advantage of the child. He threatened her and forced her to his bedroom, where he ultimately raped her. The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested. The case was allocated to Warrant Officer, Frances Kruger attached at Modimolle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit for further investigation. Following investigations, the accused was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for rape. “We commend the efforts by the investigating officer and other role players for ensuring that the victim receives justice,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
