Media Statement CAPE TOWN – Members of Maitland Flying Squad were doing patrols in Khayelitsha on Monday, 07 April 2025, when they were informed by a complainant about two unknown suspects who attempted to rob him, moments earlier on Mew Way bridge, Khayelitsha. The complainant was able to provide a good description of the attire the suspects wore. The members immediately initiated a search for the suspects whom they found on the N2 off ramp from Mew Way. Upon noticing the members approaching, the suspects ran but were apprehended and searched. A pistol with two rounds of ammunition was found on one of the suspects. Both suspects, 36 and 43, were arrested and detained at Khayelitsha SAPS for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They are scheduled to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court, once they have been charged. Ends
