Media Statement BLOEMFONTEIN – Mongezi Abednico Matlakala lied to his 15-year-old victim and lured her to a house in Phase 3 Grassland area in Bloemspruit during the afternoon on Sunday, 11 April 2024. When they arrived at the address Mongezi pulled out a knife and threatened the 15-year-old female and sexually violated her.
A case of Rape was later opened at Bloemspruit Police Station and it was investigated by Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit at Mangaung. Sergeant Sandisiwe von Willing and the prosecutor, Advocate Jama presented the State case in Bloemfontein Sexual Offences Court before Magistrate Ms Parks. The Court sentenced Mongezi Abednico Matlakala (28) to life imprisonment on Friday, 30 August 2024.
