Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson is set to address serious bribery allegations involving the CEO of the Independent Development Trust (IDT), Tebogo Malaka.
The controversy erupted after Malaka was caught on camera allegedly offering R60,000 to suppress a corruption investigation linked to the IDT. The incident centers around a contract reportedly connected to one of Malaka’s high-end properties.
In response to the footage and ongoing scrutiny, Malaka has been suspended. The suspension follows a forensic investigation into an oxygen plant tender valued at more than R800 million.
Macpherson is expected to provide further clarity on the government’s response to the scandal and the steps being taken to ensure accountability and transparency within the department.
