PSL names first monthly award winners as Ngwenya, Ouaddou and León take the honours
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has unveiled the first Betway Premiership Monthly Awards of the 2026/27 season, recognising standout individual brilliance from August.
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named Coach of the Month after steering the defending champions to an unbeaten start of three wins and one draw in four matches.
The Moroccan tactician continues a strong run of personal recognition after last season’s title-winning campaign.
AmaZulu striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya claimed Player of the Month. The 23-year-old Zimbabwean international scored five goals in four games and helped Usuthu collect 10 points from five matches.
Usuthu scored three wins, one draw and one defeat — and Ngwenya is topping the early scoring charts. He edged TS Galaxy’s Victor Letsoalo and Pirates defender Lebone Seema for the award.
Goal of the Month went to Mamelodi Sundowns’ Colombian forward Brayan León for a spectacular strike from outside the box against AmaZulu at Loftus Versfeld.
The clinical volley beat strong competition from teammate Teboho Mokoena’s free-kick in the same match.
A PSL media-accredited panel selected the winners. The awards will run monthly through the season, with more honours still to come.
