Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo , Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, accompanied by the Provincial police management and the Community Police Forum from National and Provincial level formed part of the leadership, to engage the Councillor of Chinese Embassy CI Ren and the Chinese Community Policing Forum (CPF) at Ladanna in Polokwane on Saturday, 14 September 2024. The purpose of the engagement session between SAPS, Chairman and Board members of Limpopo Chinese CPF is to strengthen co-operation and create a partnership with the Chinese community in the province, to accelerate the fight against crime by bringing in much needed energy and strategies in the organisation. In attendance was, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, National Chinese Embassy Councillor CI Ren, the Provincial Chinese community members, National Deputy Chairperson of CPF Mr Thokozani Jacob Masilela, Provincial Chairperson of CPF Mr Frans Kgasago, Provincial Head for Proactive Policing Brigadier MI Mhlongo, Provincial Commander of Media Relations Colonel Malesela Ledwaba and members of the Provincial Corporate Communication. During the engagement, Councillor Ci Ren highlighted an important aspect that attracted them to engage SAPS Provincial Commissioner and her management to establish partnership policing with police in the province and countrywide. He says that Limpopo province is rated the safest environment in the country based on the crime statistics and for that reason, he acknowledged the Provincial Commissioner her management team and her leadership style. The Chinese Embassy is interested in working hand in glove with the police to fight against criminal activities across the province by providing the necessary support such as technological tools to increase the quality of the service delivery. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Hadebe has warmly welcomed the initiative, which she says, it will definitely bring the best practices within the space of combating and investigating crime in the province. Among other crucial issues discussed, include the provincial crime review, she also assured the Chinese community that they are safe in the province and also welcomed. They should be free to approach the organisation when there are any doable and implementable strategies at hand. “Crime is an enemy to all, and if we work together, nothing can beat us,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
