LIBODE – Prompt response by Police led to the arrest of two suspects possibly linked to a business robbery that occurred in a business place in the early hours of Saturday 23 November 2024 at Libode. This follows after a group of about 10 men armed with high calibre rifles stormed a business place in Libode CBD in about two bakkies on Saturday at about 01:30. They gained access to the business place and took two safes with an undisclosed amount of money. The police van on patrol was shot at, and two police officials were injured and were rushed to Mthatha hospital. After the robbery was reported, Police attached to the Tactical Response Team worked tirelessly in searching for the responsible suspects. On information gathered, they proceeded to Ntlaza locality and raided a certain homestead and recovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition belonging to a 38-year-old and he was arrested for contravening of Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000. Upon searching, they found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in possession of a 25-year-old suspect, and he was later linked to the robbery through investigation. He was charged for business robbery, attack on police and attempted murder. Investigation is underway, and more suspects are imminent The operation yielded impressive results as the team arrested two African males aged 25 and 38 years. The duo will appear at Libode Magistrate court on Monday 25 November 2024 facing their respective charges. Ends
