The Premier of Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, has welcomed the approval by Cabinet of the licensing of the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zone (SEZ), describing it as a historic milestone that will accelerate industrialisation, economic growth, and job creation in Limpopo.
The approval of the SEZ licence represents a breakthrough in the government’s efforts to reposition Limpopo as a competitive investment destination and an industrial hub anchored on the province’s rich mineral resources, strategic geographic location, and growing infrastructure network.
The Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ is expected to attract both domestic and international investors, particularly in sectors linked to mining, mineral beneficiation, manufacturing, logistics, green energy, and related value chains.
Premier Ramathuba said the Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ will catalyze inclusive economic transformation, beneficiation of mineral resources, localisation of industries, and sustainable employment opportunities for local communities, particularly young people and women.
“This approval by Cabinet is a strong vote of confidence in Limpopo’s economic potential and our collective vision of building a capable, productive and industrialised provincial economy. The Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ will unlock investment opportunities, stimulate infrastructure development, and contribute meaningfully towards job creation and poverty reduction,” said Premier Ramathuba.
The Premier further expressed appreciation to President Cyril Ramaphosa, Cabinet, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, traditional leaders, municipalities, and all stakeholders who contributed towards the realisation of this important development.
The Limpopo Provincial Government remains committed to driving economic growth, strengthening industrial capacity, and creating sustainable livelihoods for the people of Limpopo.
