The DA has called for unity in defending the South African constitution. DA leader John Steenhuisen sent out well wishes for the New Year. Steenhuisen has called for the prioritising of economic growth in 2025.
“Let us set aside our differences and come together united. We must not allow the breakers who want to destroy our constitution and divide our country to succeed. We also need to fix our economy. To rescue South Africa, we must fight for two objectives, inclusive economic growth and jobs.”

MK Leader and former President Jacob Zuma has joined other politicians in wishing South Africans a happy and prosperous New Year.
Zuma says in the new year his party will continue to fight to change the lives of the poor.
He says in as much as they are all about championing the course of poor black people, they will remain the party of all South Africans irrespective of their color or creed.
“Happy New Year to everyone in our country South Africa. We want to say to all South Africans enjoy the year. As you know we have a number of issues we are dealing with firstly the elections, but at the end remember we said we as the black people in this country need everything we want. We must be equal in SA and we must be together, We will chase no one away but all of us must enjoy our country.”
