Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Efforts to maintain law and order in the Manenberg policing precinct saw the arrest of a suspect who was caught with an unlicensed firearm in his possession. Members of Manenberg police performed crime prevention operations in Grieta Court, Manenberg on Thursday afternoon when they stopped and searched a male whom they found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The suspect could not produce a valid license to possess the firearm. Subsequently, the 23-year-old suspect was arrested and face a charge for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 03 June 2024. These operations will continue to restore calm in the Manenberg area and to ensure the safety and security of the community. Ends
