POLOKWANE – On Monday, 10 March 2025, police swift reaction led to immediate arrest of two male suspects who committed a business robbery at Burgersfort Medicine Boutique at about 14:00 in Sekhukhune District. It is reported that two male suspects entered the shop in possession of a firearm that was pointed at the cashier and two employees. The duo allegedly robbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene driving a white Polo Vivo without a registration number. Members of Burgersfort police received a complaint about the robbery and an immediate manhunt commenced for their apprehension. The suspects were traced and subsequently found inside the motor vehicle that was parked at Tubatse Crossing mall. It was searched and police found balaclavas, hand gloves and a firearm with ammunition concealed underneath the radio of the motor vehicle that was utilized during the commission of the crime and they were placed under an arrest. Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm was reportedly stolen at Marble Hall policing area during a burglary residential committed on the month of September 2022. Furthermore, the suspects were also positively linked with another business robbery incident that was committed at the same Burgersfort Medicine Boutique during December 2024. The firearm with ammunition and white Polo Vivo were also seized by the police during the arrest. Further investigations are still continuing to link the suspects with other criminal cases that were committed across Sekhukhune District. The two male suspects aged between 44 and 53 are expected to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 facing a charge of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.
