Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The efforts of police members to clamp down on the possession of drugs and firearms resulted in the arrest of two males in isolated incidents. Police members conducted high density patrols in Wallacedene on Thursday 23 January 2025 when they entered an address in Fukuse Street in Wallacedene and saw an adult male disposing of drugs. The members interrogated the man who led them to a different location where they recovered a small quantity of mandrax tablets and methamphetamine. They detained the 47-year-old man for the possession of drugs. Meanwhile, Worcester police followed up on information in the early hours of Friday 24 January 2025, about a suspect preparing drugs for the purpose of distribution. The members proceeded to an address in Songhe Avenue in Roodewal, entered the premises upon which a search ensued. They confiscated 70 ecstasy tablets and a .38 special revolver. They detained the adult male for possession of drugs and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs and Worcester Magistrates’ Courts on the mentioned charges. Ends
