Police in Limpopo confiscated a Ford Ranger bakkie loaded with 48 boxes of illicit Remington Gold cigarettes, valued at approximately R240,000, during an operation on Sterkfontein Road between the R101 and R518.

Members of the Mahwelereng Flying Squad were patrolling areas around Mokopane CBD, Sebetiela Plaza, and Nyl Plaza when they received a tip about a suspicious vehicle transporting illegal cigarettes.
Upon spotting the white Ford Ranger, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby bushes. A search of the bakkie revealed the 48 master boxes of cigarettes, which police seized as part of an ongoing investigation.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are urging anyone with information to contact local police or report via the MySAPS App.

This seizure follows a series of recent actions by Limpopo law enforcement to clamp down on illicit trade. Earlier this year, the High Court granted a forfeiture order for R446,000 in cash and a Toyota Fortuner linked to similar illegal activity, highlighting the ongoing efforts to tackle organized crime and protect the region’s economy.
