ODENDAALSRUS – Police are searching for a taxi driver suspected to be involved in a rape that occurred on 05 August 2024 in Odendaalsrus. The victim, a 25-year-old woman was boarding a taxi from the taxi rank to her home in K5 Section at about 20:30. A taxi, white Hyundai, parked alongside the road close to a Farm in Odendaalsrus. The victim lost consciousness after an altercation with the suspect. When she regained consciousness, she realized that she had been raped. The suspect is unknown at this stage, and a case of rape was registered for further investigation. Anyone with information that can assist in tracing the alleged taxi driver, is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Fonya of the Welkom Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, on 071 0322 512 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111. Tip-offs can also be submitted anonymously through the MySAPS App.
