Media Statement HARRISMITH – The Rural Safety police coordinators recovered 26 sheep on a farm in the Phuthaditjhaba District during their patrols this morning. The Rural Safety coordinators were busy with their normal crime prevention patrols as part of continuous efforts to curb stock theft, which is their priority. On the same level, members also addressed damage to infrastructure and possible farm robberies through intensive, high visibility blue light patrols in collaboration with some local farmers and private security. On 25 April 2024 at about 01:00, while the team was at work, they received a complaint on a certain farm about possible stock theft in progress. The team reacted swiftly and recovered 26 sheep, but the suspect had already disappeared in the dark. All the recovered sheep were handed over to the lawful owner. Ends
