WESTERN CAPE – In efforts to deal with Serious and Violent Crimes, police members recovered a firearm with ammunition and drugs in isolated incidents. Gansbaai police were busy with patrols on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, when they followed up on information about a person in possession of a firearm without a valid licence. The members drove to a nearby Nature Reserve where they saw the person who fitted the description. They approached the female suspect who was found in possession of a .38 special revolver and a small assortment of ammunition. They detained the adult female for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. In an unrelated intervention Makhaza Crime Prevention Unit responded to information on Wednesday 27 November 2024 of a possible drug outlet in Town Two. The members entered the address, searched the entire premises as well as the occupants and in the process recovered a consignment of drugs. They detained two males aged 29 and 36 for dealing in drugs.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Hermanus and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
