NESLPRUIT – The Police in Tonga are investigating a case of murder and robbery following an incident whereby about four suspects are said to have stormed into a certain house in Mangweni near Komatipoort. They then reportedly shot at the male victim (35) twice then assaulted his wife as well as robbed the victims of their mobile phones. Suspects also robbed the victims of their charcoal Toyota GD-6 bakkie. The incident reportedly occurred in the evening of Tuesday 02 April 2024. It is further reported that the armed suspects were wearing baraglavas when they committed this act and after shooting at the 35-year-old man, they fled with the stolen items. The male victim was taken by a private transport to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries The motive for the killing is not yet established. No one has been arrested as yet and the Police are hard at work to ensure that suspects are sought and apprehended. Police urge anyone with information that may assist in this probe to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
A team consisting of experts in the investigation and tracing of suspects has already been assembled under the leadership of the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela who vowed that Police will work around the clock to ensure that perpetrators of this heinous crime are hunted down and swiftly brought to book.
