Media Statement FREE STATE – The Phuthaditjhaba police need urgent community assistance in tracing two armed suspects after a woman (61) and her son (40) were allegedly shot and killed in their home and suspects fled the scene on foot. It’s alleged that on 23 November 2024 at about 09:45, Phuthaditjhaba police received a call about the shooting incident at a certain house in the Snake Park Section of Bluegumbosch. It’s further alleged that on 23 November 2024 at about 09:30, the woman and her two boys were inside their four-roomed house. One of her sons was in his bedroom asleep when they heard a knock on the door. Then, two males walked inside the house, asking for his elder son. She asked why they were looking for him, but they proceeded to his bedroom, and she followed them. Suddenly, her younger son hears gunshots and fled the house. On arrival, the police found two bodies in the bedroom. Both sustained fatal gunshot wounds both on their heads and were declared dead by the Emergency Medical Service. The motive behind the killing is not yet known at this stage. The local police are on the ground tracing the suspects following community assistance. Cases of murder are being investigated.
