Media Statement NORTHERN CAPE – Victoria West SAPS, Transnet Security, Victoria West Highway Patrol members with the assistance of farmers arrested two more suspects for Tampering with Essential Infrastructure and they could possibly also be linked to a copper theft that occurred in the same area during the previous week. On Monday, 27 January 2025 at 10:00 the police followed up on information about copper theft that was in progress on a guest Farm near Three Sisters. The police pounced on the four suspects while in the act of stealing the copper worth R60 000-00 and managed to arrest two of the males. The other two male suspects fled the scene into the veld and are still at large. The two arrested male suspects are aged 25 and 31 and are foreign nationals from the same country. The suspects are expected to appear in the Victoria West Magistrates Court soon on charges of Tampering with Essential Infrastructure. The Provincial Commissioner for the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola commended the Victoria West SAPS members, Transnet Security and the farmers for their positive collaboration and reiterated that we will intensify efforts to send out a message that the Northern Cape is not a haven for criminals or organized crime.
