SEKHUKHUNE: Police in Mecklenburg have opened a murder case and two counts of attempted murder following a brutal panga-attack that claimed the life of a 43-year-old man and left two other victims injured at Modimolle Village, near Dophale, during the early hours of Sunday, 17 May 2026.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were socialising at the local Tavern in the village at about 00:30 when an argument allegedly erupted between them and the suspect after they reportedly refused to drink beer with him.

Two other victims, aged 23 and 43, sustained serious injuries during the incident. Both injured victims were transported to the local Hospital for medical treatment.
