Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo province, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has directed the Police in Phalaborwa to spare no effort in capturing seven unidentified male suspects involved in an incident of attempted murder and malicious damage to property that occurred on 17 March 2024 at about 07:50 at a local Supermarket in Phalaborwa. Upon receiving a distress call reporting an armed robbery in progress at a local supermarket, the police promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered store employees and customers lying on the floor. As the suspects noticed the police presence, they began firing at the officers, prompting the police to swiftly retaliate. The suspects resorted to using the tied-up victims as shields to evade police fire before fleeing on foot into the nearby bushes. No one was injured during the shootout. However, a police vehicle was damaged. A comprehensive manhunt is currently underway to bring the seven suspects to justice.
