Media Statement NELSPRUIT – Police are investigating a case of murder. A manhunt has been launched for the suspect(s) who killed a 44-year-old man in Ackerville near Witbank on 09 April 2024. According to information, an unknown man entered the house of the victim and demanded him (victim) to accompany him to the car so that he could obtain the contact numbers. Thereafter, both went along to the suspect’s vehicle and within no time, gunshots were heard. Soon after that, the suspect is said to have vanished meanwhile the victim was left helpless on the ground. Police and the medical personnel responded and the victim was certified dead on the scene. A murder case was opened and the investigation is underway hence the plea for the community to come forward with valuable information that may assist in the investigation, possibly leading to the perpetrator(s) being apprehended. The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has condemned the senseless killing of the victim whilst reiterating a genuine concern regarding proliferation of firearms in the society, which are used in the commission of violent crimes.
