Media Statement MPUMALANGA – There are two murder cases that Police are investigating, first being the one investigated by the Police in Bushbuckridge following the discovery of a woman’s burnt body at Mphenyatšatši (near Bushbuckridge) on Sunday 09 June 2024. The other case was reported at Mhala SAPS whereby a man’s body with gunshot wounds was discovered in Chochocho (Dingledale Trust) near Thulamahashe on Monday, 10 June 2024 . In both incidents, no one has been arrested thus far. According to information, on the incident in Bushbuckridge area, the burnt body of a woman was found in the nearby bushes. It is said that the neighbours of the woman who stays alone, reportedly contacted her family after realizing that she was not seen around for about two days. Several attempts by the family, to locate her were unsuccessful and the matter was then reported to the Bushbuckridge SAPS whereby a missing person’s file was opened on Saturday, 08 June 2024. Sadly, her body was found the next day (Sunday, 09 June 2024) and it was during this time when a case of murder was opened. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and no arrest was made. Meanwhile the Police at Mhala are still in pursuit of the suspects following the fatal shooting of a man who was found lying motionless on the ground with gunshot wounds. The motive for the killing is also unknown at this stage and no one has been arrested in relation to this case. Police urge anyone with information that may assist inapprehending the suspects of the two murder cases to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned both incidents and vowed that police will work around the clock with the hope to arrest perpetrators thereof.
