Media Statement CAPE TOWN – In order to win the war against the possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition, police members continues with crime combating endeavours and detained three males who were found to be in possession unlawfully. Milnerton Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting incident in progress on Monday 15 April 2024. When they arrived at the crime scene in Langclaw Avenue at around 18:30, they found two males who sustained injuries. Further investigation led to the recovery of a firearm with ammunition which was found in close proximity of the injured males. They detained the two males on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Meanwhile, police members of Public Order Police conducted disruptive operations in the early hours of Tuesday 16 April 2024, in the Bishop Lavis policing precinct. While patrolling in Oudehout Street, they saw an unknown man who fled between the houses. The police members gave chase and stopped the man in his tracks, searched him and confiscated a firearm with ammunition. The 24-year-old male was detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Cape Town and Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court soon on the mentioned charges. Ends
