Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Police in Bolobedu activated massive manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a woman, aged 56, and her son aged 40, on Sunday, 19 May 2024 at Shawela Village at around 06:00. Police were notified about the shooting incident and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a male victim lying in a pool of blood inside the house, with gunshot wounds. Members of Emergency Medical Services were immediately dispatched to the scene and he was certified dead on the scene. His identity is currently withheld for investigation purposes. The Police were further informed that a 56-year-old woman was also shot during the same incident. She was transported to a local hospital however, she succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained. Preliminary investigations revealed that unknown suspects knocked at the residence of the 40-year-old deceased man. He reportedly went to the gate when a heated argument ensued. His mother also went outside to check, and gunshots were heard. The male victim ran inside the house and collapsed. A 63-year-old man, the father of the 40-year-old, also went outside to check and found his wife lying in pain with gunshot wounds. She was rushed to hospital, unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries. The motive behind this brutal attack which resulted in the killings is unknown, but further Police investigations will determine.
