Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit in Lebowakgomo, are investigating a case of rape that occurred at Sekurung Village, on Sunday, 09 June 2024 at around 02:00. Police reports indicated that victim aged 18 was coming from a local tavern accompanied by her sister’s boyfriend and his friend. She allegedly requested her sister’s boyfriend to spend the night at his residence, as it was too late for her to go home. He agreed that when they got to his room, he started to demand having sexual intercourse with her. She refused, and the suspect forcefully undressed her and raped her. She managed to slip away and went outside. The suspect’s male friend, who was waiting outside, accompanied her home. The Police were notified about the incident, and a case of rape was opened for further investigations. The suspect is still on the run.
