WESTERN CAPE – Police members of Maitland Flying Squad conducted crime combatting patrols in Kenilworth on Sunday 13 April 2025 when they detained three suspects who were found in possession of presumed stolen property, drugs and a firearm and ammunition. When the patrol vehicle entered Rosmead Avenue they noticed the driver of a suspicious Red VW Polo, seemingly in a heated discussion on his mobile device. The members followed the vehicle and ordered the driver to stop near the corners of Imam Haron and Loch Roads where they searched the occupants and the vehicle which resulted in the confiscation of a pistol with ammunition, drugs and valuables for which no one could account. They detained the 44-year-old man and two females aged 31 and 42 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, the possession of drugs and the possession of presumed stolen property. Once charged the suspects are expected to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges. Ends
