WESTERN CAPE – Police members recovered two pistols with ammunition in isolated incidents and detained two suspects for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition Milnerton police responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a shopping complex in their policing precinct on Saturday, 19 April 2025. Upon arrival at the business premises at about 16:20, they interviewed and searched the suspect which resulted in the recovery of a pistol with ammunition found in his possession. They detained the adult female for the unlawful possession of a firearm. In an unrelated intervention, Maitland Flying Squad responded to information about the location of firearms on Sunday, 20 April 2025. They operationalised the information and pounced on an address in Hydrangea Crescent in Kalksteenfontein and searched the premises. Their persistence was rewarded when they recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition and in the process detained a 29-year-old man for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Cape Town and Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
