Media Statement CAPE TOWN – Members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad received information about a suspect in possession of a firearm in the Kraaifontein area. A proper description of the suspect and premises was given. The members searched the premises and confiscated a firearm with ammunition. A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court once he has been charged. In an unrelated matter, members of the Cape Town Tactical Response Team arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 27, for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as robbery on Monday evening. The members were busy with crime prevention patrols in Msobombu Street, Ilitha Park when they were stopped by members of the public who informed them about suspects robbing people with firearms in the road. They responded on the information and approached the suspects. When they saw the police vehicles, they started running. Two suspects were arrested when they were found in possession of two firearms. They will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court once they have been charged. Ends
