Media Statement NELSPRUIT – Police arrested two suspects, aged 31 and 39, on Sunday, 19 January 2025, on the R38 Road in Low’s Creek for possession and dealing in dagga. Members of the Proactive and Combat Team assigned for Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga were conducting vehicle checkpoints and stop-and-searches operations in the area when they stopped a white Hyundai bakkie that have Mpumalanga registration number with two male occupants. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers discovered 15 bags stashed with dagga inside the bakkie. The dagga weighed at about 644.14 kilograms, with an estimated street value of about R2.4 million. The investigation thus indicates that the suspects were from Louville near Low’s Creek and were en route to Matsulu when they were intercepted by the Police. The suspects are expected to appear at the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, on charges of possession and dealing in dagga. Ends
