Sources claim a warrant of arrest has been issued for Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola in connection with alleged misuse of secret service funds and irregular property purchases worth millions.
It’s alleged Masemola worked with Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, head of crime intelligence, to bypass procurement rules and acquire luxury properties in Pretoria North and Midrand. The deals, approved on the same day last September, reportedly involved the use of slush funds and resulted in substantial kickbacks.
According to the allegations, Masemola is linked to the purchase of Veroz Boutique Hotel in Pretoria North, valued at over R34 million, and Kyalami Lodge in Midrand, valued at more than R48 million. Investigations also suggest he owns multiple other properties, despite an official monthly income of about R58,000 after deductions.
Officials, including the acting police minister, say they are unaware of any arrest, stressing that investigations are conducted independently. However, sources insist the president has been briefed and that Masemola will face charges of corruption, violations of the Public Finance Management Act, and breaches of National Treasury regulations.
The case follows Khumalo’s earlier arrest on fraud and corruption charges related to other high-value property acquisitions.
