GAUTENG – In Katlehong and the surrounding areas, a police team consisting of a SAPS Katlehong Task Team, Detectives from Ekurhuleni West, Serious Violent Crimes Investigation (SVCI), Murder and Robbery, and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) cracked down on the most wanted criminals. They were wanted for a variety of crimes, including murder and multiple car hijacking cases. The team investigated a report on suspicious activity occurring at Khumalo Valley on Thursday, 6 March 2025. When they arrived, they found a Toyota Hilux that had been reported stolen at Moleleki Riverside in Katlehong that same day. In addition, they found two other cars, a white Toyota Quantum and a Toyota Etios, that had been reported used in criminal activity at the same address. One suspect escaped, and three others were arrested. The three made their initial appearance before Palm-Ridge Magistrates’ Court on 10 March 2025. After police received a tip that the fourth suspect was present, they detained him in the courtyard while the court session was still in progress. According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is wanted for a 2022 murder case in Cleveland. All four of the suspects, who are between the ages of 30 and 50, have been connected to car-hijackings since 2023. They are all expected to appear before court on 17 March 2025. The Station Commander of police in Katlehong, Brigadier Albertina Vesi, has expressed her gratitude to all those who were involved in this breakthrough, which led to the arrest of these four suspects.
