Media Statement GAUTENG – Two suspects were arrested after they were found with goods that were inside a courier vehicle that was hijacked in Dobsonville, Soweto, on Monday 07 January 2025. It is reported that the suspects who were driving a gold VW Polo hijacked a courier vehicle in Dobsonville and drove with the victims who were later dropped in Mofolo North, Soweto. Police officers from Soweto Flying Squad spotted a suspicious gold VW Polo with five occupants and stopped it. Upon searching the car, police found two microwaves suspected to be taken from the hijacked courier vehicle. Three suspects escaped, and two were arrested. Preliminary investigation led the police to two houses in Mofolo North and Dube, Soweto, where two more suspects were arrested after they were found with two fridges that were reported to be taken during the hijacking. In one of the houses, police recovered a Kia bakkie that was hijacked in Eldorado Park in 2023. A total of four suspects were arrested, and the search is underway for more suspects. The arrested suspects are facing charges that include attempted murder, car hijacking, possession of hijacked vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearm, and possession of suspected stolen property.
