Police arrest suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm

WESTERN CAPE – On Saturday, 01 June 2024, members of Manenberg SAPS were busy with crime prevention duties to curb gang violence and shooting in the area when they received a complaint of a shooting. While attending to the complaint the members received information about a suspect who was in possession of a firearm. They followed up the information and found the suspect under a staircase in Renoster Road. The suspect was searched and a .45 pistol with ammunition was found in his possession. The 29-year-old man was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court once he has been charged.
