Media Statement NELSPRUIT – A male suspect (58) has been arrested in Delmas on Monday, 16 December 2024 following reports of alleged fraud at a liquor outlet earlier that day, where an undisclosed amount of cash was fraudulently obtained. The suspect is said to have manipulated the system by providing fraudulent details for payments, which were later discovered to have been well coordinated to milk the said liquor outlet. After a thorough investigation conducted by the Police in Delmas, the suspect was cornered and arrested. Preliminary investigations have somehow connected the suspect to similar fraudulent cases in Cloetesville (Western Cape Province) and Parkroad (Free State Province). The Police are not ruling out the possibility of additional charges being brought against the suspect as the investigation progresses. The suspect is expected to appear at the Delmas Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday 18 December 2024 facing fraud related charges. As the festive season has begun, members of the community, the businesses sector, and the general public are urged to remain vigilant against fraudsters who may attempt to defraud them. Online scams, in particular, are common during this time, and individuals should take precautions to verify the authenticity of any transactions before proceeding. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commends the investigation team for their diligent work in arresting the suspect. “We are proud of our skilled detectives, and with this arrest, we are confident that justice will be served in fraudulent cases,” said General Mkhwanazi
