Podcast And Chill Episode Featuring Benjy Maponya Deleted From YouTube Amid MySol Court Battle

The Podcast and Chill episode featuring North West businessman Benjamin “Benjy” Maponya has been deleted from YouTube amid his ongoing legal battle with mining businessman Solomon “MySol” Soka Madibela.

The episode, which had accumulated more than 1.9 million views, is no longer available on YouTube as of Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The reason for its removal has not been publicly confirmed.

Maponya appeared on the MacG-hosted podcast on 8 October to discuss his fallout with Madibela over the N4 Cluster opencast mining project at Buffels West. During the interview, he alleged that he had been sidelined from the venture, lost access to income and suffered financial losses, including losing his Hartbeespoort home.

Madibela responded by obtaining an urgent interim interdict from the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, restricting the publication and distribution of specified statements linking him to alleged criminal conduct. The order also directed Maponya to remove related social media posts.

Despite the court order, the episode was broadcast. Madibela subsequently launched contempt of court proceedings against MacG, whose real name is Macgyver Mukwevho, and Maponya over alleged non-compliance.

On 15 October, Madibela appeared on Podcast and Chill to respond to the allegations. He disputed Maponya’s account of their business relationship and challenged claims concerning their partnership and outstanding payments.

On 22 October, the Johannesburg High Court found Maponya in contempt of court. He filed an application for leave to appeal the judgment on 23 October.

The episode’s removal from YouTube has sparked discussion on social media about freedom of expression, court orders and the coverage of contentious business disputes.

Neither MacG nor the Podcast and Chill Network has publicly confirmed why the episode was removed from YouTube. The underlying dispute between Maponya and Madibela remains ongoing.
