NORTHERN CAPE – The vigilant police in the Pixley Ka Seme District, with the assistance of the SAPS Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, arrested four males for stock theft in two separate incidents. On 17 April 2024 at about 09:00, Petrusville police followed up on information regarding men slaughtering sheep in the Plakkerskamp area in Petrusville. On arrival, the team found sheep carcasses, skins, heads and intestines as well as stock theft tools. A 27-year-old man was arrested. Further investigation led to another premises, and police found another slaughtered sheep carcass, heads, feet and intestines in the fridge and arrested a 29-year-old male. A utility bakkie, believed to be used in the commission of a crime, was confiscated. In a separate incident in Marydale on the 18 April 2024 at about 21:00 police swiftly pounced on two suspicious males carrying bags. The bags were searched, and police found sheep carcasses and alleged stock theft tools. Both males, aged 28 and 35, were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods.
The estimated value of the stolen stock is R20 000. The investigation continues.
