A 51-year-old pastor from Khayelitsha has been arrested following allegations of raping and assaulting three congregants at his church between November 2022 and January 2025.
The victims, aged 15, 22, and 23, reportedly sought healing from the pastor, who allegedly told them that recovery was possible only if they stayed at the church.
Once there, he is accused of coercing them into sexual intercourse as a condition for their healing.
The arrest was made by the Khayelitsha Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit.
The suspect appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court, where the case was postponed to 4 February 2025.
