Media Statement PARKWEG – Police have arrested nine suspects after two chilling videos where a group of males attacked an unsuspecting victim circulated in the Bloemfontein CBD. A video circulating on social media platforms depicted a group of suspects committing robberies in full view of onlookers. Parkweg police are appealing to the victims in the video to come forward and open cases, as the suspects have been arrested. The video was brought to the attention of Parkweg Crime Prevention members on duty. The team swiftly arrested two male suspects and a foreign national believed to be the one purchasing the robbed loot. Through the assistance and a tip-off from community members, an additional three arrests were made, bringing the total of arrests to six. Three more suspects were arrested by the District Task Team after they received intelligence-led information regarding their whereabouts. All nine suspects, aged between 31 and 45, will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on eight charges of aggravated robbery with a possibility of additional charges being added. They will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 31 March 2025. Investigations are ongoing, and more charges are expected. Ends
