Oskido and Salima Chica Release ‘Tiki Tiki 2.0’ as Afro House Collaboration Reaches Global Stage
South African music heavyweight Oskido is once again proving why he remains one of the continent’s most influential cultural pioneers. With the release of “Tiki Tiki 2.0”, the legendary DJ and producer joins forces with Congolese-Angolan vocalist Salima Chica, alongside acclaimed producers Argento Dust and Bun Xapa, in a collaboration that celebrates African unity through the universal language of music.
Released by Kunye Records, the globally recognised Afro House platform founded by Shimza, the single serves as the lead release from an upcoming EP that reimagines the viral success of the original “Tiki Tiki”. The project introduces a fresh Afro House interpretation while preserving the infectious spirit that made the original track resonate with audiences.
Drawing inspiration from the Lingala word “Tekita”, which means “to shake” or “to tremble”, “Tiki Tiki 2.0” channels the thrill and emotion of love through hypnotic vocals, layered percussion and contemporary Afro House production. The track blends the rich musical traditions of Central and Southern Africa into a vibrant sound designed for dance floors, festivals and international audiences.
The forthcoming EP builds on the momentum of the original release by offering multiple versions tailored for club DJs, festival stages and global electronic music sets. It reflects the growing international appetite for Afro House while highlighting the genre’s African roots.
For Oskido, the release represents far more than another addition to his extensive catalogue. It continues a career spanning more than three decades, during which he has played a defining role in shaping South Africa’s music industry and elevating African electronic music onto the global stage.
As the co-founder of Kalawa Jazmee Records and a recipient of South Africa’s Order of Ikhamanga (Silver), Oskido has consistently championed emerging talent while helping African music reach audiences far beyond the continent.
Speaking about the collaboration, Oskido said the project reflects the power of music to unite cultures.
“This project is about celebrating African unity through music. ‘Tiki Tiki 2.0’ brings together different cultures and sounds, showing how Afro House continues to evolve while staying rooted in our heritage.”
His message echoes the broader vision behind the release. By bringing together artists from different parts of Africa, “Tiki Tiki 2.0” showcases the creative exchange that continues to drive Afro House’s global rise.
As Afro House cements its place as one of the world’s fastest-growing electronic music genres, releases such as “Tiki Tiki 2.0” demonstrate how African artists are not simply following international trends but actively shaping them.
With its infectious rhythms, cross-cultural collaboration and modern production, “Tiki Tiki 2.0” positions itself as both a celebration of African heritage and a bold statement about the future of Afro House on the world stage.
