GAUTENG – The OPERATION VALA UMGODI Mission Area Joint Operational Centre (MAJOC) team visited Leamogetswe Safety Home in Atterigeville, Tshwane on Friday, 04 April 2025. As part of its ongoing commitment to community upliftment, the team donated essential items from their ‘own pocket’ to the home. Leamogetswe Safety Home, a haven for vulnerable children, provides care and shelter to those in need. Understanding the challenges faced by the home, the MAJOC team stepped forward with a donation that included food supplies, toiletries, cleaning materials, blankets, and clothing. The initiative aimed to alleviate some of the burdens faced by the caregivers and ensure that the children have access to basic necessities. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude as men and women in blue arrived, greeted with smiles from the children and staff. The efforts of the OPERATION VALA UMGODI MAJOC team highlight the importance of community-driven initiatives in supporting vulnerable groups. The team’s generosity serves as an inspiration, reminding everyone that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting impact. Since its inception in December 2023, OPERATION VALA UMGODI continues to record commendable progress in dismantling illegal mining activities in the country. To date, more than 20 000 suspects have been arrested through nationwide VALA UMGODI operations. Ends
