KIMBERLEY – On Thursday, 21 March 2024, members executing Operation Vala Umgodi, were conducting patrols, illicit mining duties, including stop and search operations in Kimberley and Galeshewe. Information was received regarding a suspect allegedly in possession of suspected drugs in Colville. Members operationalised the information and raided the identified location. Police arrested a 65-year-old South African male after mandrax tablets were found in his possession. The drugs, with an estimated street value of R1400-00 and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime was confiscated. In Floors, members intercepted a Nigerian National allegedly on his way to deliver drugs to clients. The 39-year-old man was arrested with KHAT with an estimated street value of R700-00. The team proceeded to Galeshewe and arrested a 33-year-old Nigerian National. The suspect was found in possession of drugs estimated at R 3570-00 and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
The police remain committed in the fight against drugs.
