Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Illicit mining operations across the province continue to make significant impact in fighting the Illegal mining. This was evident when the illicit mining team comprising various disciplines under Sekhukhune District on Sunday 03 November 2024, arrested two suspects. A 38-year-old suspect was found in possession of dagga and nyaope drug and the second suspect aged 28-years-old was found using dagga in public. The team confiscated the following items:- * Dagga * Nyaope * 16 small pieces of drugs In the same breath, the other multidisciplinary team comprising Sekhukhune illicit mining members in collaboration with Home Affairs officials conducted their operation in Groblersdal policing precinct. During the operation, one suspect aged 34-years-old was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The multidisciplinary team as they were busy with the operation arrested fifty two (52) undocumented persons on warrant of detention from Home Affairs. These undocumented persons are from Zimbabwe and Mozambique respectively. The suspects will appear before Groblersdal magistrate court soon. Ends
