Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The South African Police Service Operation Vala Umgodi Team, in collaboration with the South African National Defence Force Sector 3 and Northern Cape Battalion Joint Task Force, deployed to address illicit mining activities in the Namakwa District, collectively donated school uniforms to learners at the Kleinzee Combined and Development School on Friday, 05 April 2024. SAPS members under the Support Command of Lieutenant Colonel Monwabisi Qunta and the South African National Defence Force under the Batallion Command of Lieutenant Colonel Tuelo Kgaje purchased school shoes for 41 primary and secondary school children. The team also donated toiletries and sanitary towels to the learners. The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola praised the members for their generous and selfless gesture. She also acknowledged their ongoing efforts to address illegal mining and related crimes in the district as well as responding to the social needs of the community members and strengthening and enhancing relationships between the police and the communities.
